The Formation of VECTOR: A Breakthrough in Ballistic Shield Illumination
At TacMount Solutions, our team boasts over 30 years of combined SWAT experience, ballistic instructor certifications, and a wealth of operational expertise. This extensive background has given us a unique perspective on the challenges faced in the field, particularly when it comes to illumination on ballistic shield platforms. It is this firsthand experience that drove the creation of our revolutionary product, VECTOR.
The Challenges We Faced
In our years of service, we encountered several persistent issues with existing illumination solutions for ballistic shields:
Insufficient Light Output: During operations, the need for adequate lighting is paramount. Unfortunately, many existing solutions failed to provide the necessary brightness. This lack of sufficient light output compromised visibility and, consequently, the safety and effectiveness of our missions.
Frequent Battery Changes: Most available lights relied on CR123 batteries, which are not only expensive but also required frequent changes. This constant need for battery replacement was not only a logistical nightmare but also a significant cost burden. It was common to find ourselves mid-operation, needing to swap out batteries, which is far from ideal in high-stress scenarios.
Lack of Transferable Illumination Features: Another major issue was the inability to easily transfer illumination systems between different shields. Each shield would often require a dedicated light setup, leading to inefficiencies and additional costs. We needed a more versatile solution that could adapt to various shield platforms without hassle.
Mounting Difficulties with Rifle and Handgun Lights: In attempts to improve illumination, we experimented with mounting dedicated rifle and handgun lights onto shields. However, these lights frequently failed or did not perform as expected. They were not designed for the unique demands of shield-mounted applications, resulting in unreliable performance and additional frustration.
The Birth of VECTOR
With these challenges in mind, our team set out to develop a solution that would address all these issues comprehensively. The result was VECTOR, a ballistic shield light designed from the ground up with the input and rigorous testing of SWAT operators.
VECTOR stands out due to its powerful illumination capabilities, boasting 2,760 lumens with 72,000 peak candela on spot optics to ensure maximum visibility in all conditions. Additionally, we integrated a rechargeable battery system, eliminating the need for costly and frequent CR123 battery changes. This rechargeable solution not only reduces operational costs but also ensures that the light is always ready when needed.
Moreover, VECTOR features an all-in-one system that allows for easy transfer between different shields. This adaptability ensures that our illumination solutions are versatile and cost-effective, providing consistent performance across various platforms.
In creating VECTOR, we have addressed the common issues faced by law enforcement and tactical teams. Our product ensures reliable, powerful illumination that enhances operational effectiveness and safety. At TacMount Solutions, we are proud to offer VECTOR as a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in tactical equipment.
